Teresa Simpson

Background

Teresa Simpson is a Senior Clinician with the Psychosocial-Oncology Social Work Service at the Liverpool Hospital Cancer Therapy Centre.

Teresa has had over 25 years clinical experience in Oncology, both as a Registered Nurse at Prince of Wales Hospital and then as a Social Worker at Liverpool Hospital since 1998.

During her time at Liverpool Hospital, she has been responsible for the Head and Neck cancer stream, providing psychosocial intervention and care to people with Head and Neck cancer and their families.

She has been involved in clinical innovations in Head and Neck Cancer care including the establishment of the Head and Neck Pre-Treatment Cancer clinic in 2010 and the Head and Neck Cancer Education and Support Group in 2013.

Her research has included a study into the resilience of family caregivers supporting a relative with Head and Neck Cancer and she is also a co-author of the Head and Neck Information Questionnaire (HANIQ), a published scale which has subsequently been translated into Italian and Chinese.
