Dr Bena Brown

Background

Dr Bena Brown is the Senior Research Fellow at Menzies School of Health Research, in the Targeted Approaches to Optimising Cancer Services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people (TACTICS) Centre for Research Excellence.

She has 15 years of experience providing clinical care and conducting research at the Division of Cancer Services at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Bena is a clinician-researcher with a passion for caring for people with cancer and their families.

Her research interests are focused on optimising health services and systems, person-centred care, telepractice, and survivorship. Bena has led the design, testing and implementation of My Health My Way (previously ScreenIT) – an electronic patient reported outcome platforms that connects patients with cancer, and their families, to their health care team.

Since the awarding of her PhD, Bena has worked part-time, sharing motherhood with her research and clinical career. She has over 60 peer-reviewed publications, has presented at multiple national and international conferences, and has been awarded over $3.5 million in research grants.
